Hondo, Texas and the surrounding areas are growing at a tremendous rate.  With San Antonio, Texas only a short 45 miles to our east, Hondo is quickly absorbing those people who are tired of the hustle and bustle of the big city but still like being close enough to enjoy the amenities.  San Antonio is home to the Alamo, it's world renowned River Walk located downtown on the San Antonio River, the San Antonio Zoo and much, much more.

Rapidly becoming a hot-spot for industrial growth, Hondo is home to Universal Rundle, James Avery Jewelry and a host of other companies.  The Hondo Municipal Airport, built during World War II, is still used for some military training exercises although it is now used primarily for private air traffic.  Hondo is also the home of the Medina Community Hospital with excellent doctors taking care of our community.

For the outdoor enthusiasts ... If hunting is your passion, Medina County is home to some world class year round hunting facilities.  Medina Lake is also nearby for water sports and fishing.  We are close to excellent weekend destinations like Garner State Park, Lost Maples and so much more.

Football is alive and well in Hondo, Texas with a 3A high school team that has been known to go all the way to district champs more than once!  The Hondo Independent School District gives small town attention to their students with big city expectations. 

Our community hosts many events from Museum Day in May to the Wild Game Dinner hosted by the Chamber of Commerce for hunters each November.  A host of activities abound throughout the area whether you are an antique enthusiast, hunter or just like hanging out with some of the friendliest people in the country.
